Ok – quick announcement – will add more later (tomorrow).

Cool! :winner:
I'm from the noob side, so I will wait for a little bit more beefed up version, base may just be over my head for now. But looking forward to play with antiX runit version. I liked it on Void, but I was too noob to keep it is daily driver. Which is good since I found you guys

@manyroads, any chance to slap Xfce on it? Would your steps from 19 beta work on this one?
My guess is that the init will have little to do with installing xfce. The same steps should work or you can install from the antiX package manager... which is now much easier and seems to work although last time I tried I got version 4.12 not 4.14.

... and with antiX, I always install lightdm instead slim (for a multi-users behavior, Ctrl+Alt+F7, Ctrl+Alt+F8, Ctrl+Alt+Fn ).

Sadly, when I attempt to load antiX-runit I am unable to get a live desktop. I simply arrive at cli-installer in terminal mode.

Same here.. I was about to open a topic on it. The "standard" antixes also don't get there. If I enter startx I get a load of xorg stuff on the screen.

Going to try the xorg=nuke option now.. failsafe didn't get me anywhere either.

I only tried so far version posted by HoaS and only live session (off the USB stick) is not loading startx. Installed one does start it

Thing is I am not installing unless I have a GUI.. I have too many drives to fiddlestick with and I do not want to risk selecting the wrong one.

Removed splasht, added xorg=nuke, nope. (note that that was on antix-full _x64, but I am very sure that runit will do the same).
Of course md5sums were checked and all.

... Maybe due to this issue ?:
...If you find on installation that no drives are shown in /media, then delete the /etc/fstab file and type this in a terminal
sudo make-fstab

Code: Select all

OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel HD Graphics (Ice Lake 4x8 GT1)
10th generation Intel isn't well supported (if at all) under Debian buster, you could perhaps try the new AHS repository (if that works with antiX) for a newer kernel & graphics stack.

Well that explains why I can't run MX or antiX on my new toy... :footinmouth: :bagoverhead:

Runit now. Made a screenshot, this was using failsafe, no other parameters were added:
IMG_0479.jpg
Drives are present. I can see all the partitions in /media, so that is not it.
Note that I do not have mx17 installed on the system lol just renamed the partitions as such.
