You can't edit a .qm file without special tools. But reinstalling mx-datetime is easy if you use synaptic.

Isn't it possible to go into MXPI, Stable Repo tab, selecting the already installed mx-datetime and then clicking Install? Doesn't that reinstall it?

Or, otherwise, uninstall from there and install again?

Could be better. I'm using synaptic for everything, have no idea what MXPI can do.

Dear Eadwine Rose and Dear Utopia,

Following your recommendations, I used MX Package Installer to uninstall and reinstall mx-datetime.
This did not change the translation of mx-datetime.

Best regards,
Wallon

If you're doing it just for yourself (till the translations are updated I mean) : Menu => "MX Menu Editor" => MX Tools .. Change Name and Comment lines ...

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=MX Date & Time
...
Name[fr]=MX Date et Heure
...
Comment=Date & Time Settings
...
Comment[fr]=Configuration de la date et de l'heure
...
Exec=su-to-root -X -c mx-datetime
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Icon=mx-datetime
Categories=GNOME;GTK;System;MX-Setup;
NoDisplay=false

There could be something wrong with the language file. You can ask in the Forum Français if anyone has it working correctly.

Dear developers,

Concerns; the Date&Time file in [fr] and [fr_BE].

If I put the French translations in this file, can you put it on the github site and compile it for MX Linux 21?

I found this file on the following site;
https://github.com/MX-Linux/mx-datetime ... anslations

The translations were done in Transifex in French 2 years ago but it was not taken over by the developers?

With all my good will,
Wallon

Hello dear ones.

I think I managed to understand everything that is happening, including because in pt_BR language also has no translation.

The file 'mx-datetime' from Transifex https://www.transifex.com/anticapitalis ... /181748861 is all translated and available for use. But the file 'mx-datetime_en_BR.ts' from GitHub https://github.com/MX-Linux/mx-datetime ... e_pt_BR.ts does not have the translations that are available in Transifex.

So here are my questions:

1 - Why do we donate our time translating text and more text on Transifex if they won't be used?

2 - Will I have to download the Transifex files and request the merge on GitHub, one by one?

I've written this a few times and I write it again, "developers and programmers need to make a habit of always searching for the latest translations available on Transifex", otherwise we'll never see the corrected translations and the voluntary work of the translators will continue to be in vain.

marcelocripe
(Original text in Brazilian Portuguese language)

- - - - -

Olá caros.

Eu acho que consegui compreender tudo que está ocorrendo, inclusive porque em idioma pt_BR também não possui tradução.

O arquivo 'mx-datetime' do Transifex https://www.transifex.com/anticapitalis ... /181748861 está todo traduzido e está disponível para a utilização. Já o arquivo 'mx-datetime_pt_BR.ts' do GitHub https://github.com/MX-Linux/mx-datetime ... e_pt_BR.ts não possui as traduções que estão disponibilizadas no Transifex.

Então ficam as minhas perguntas:

Concerns; the Date&Time file in [fr] and [fr_BE].

If I put the French translations in this file, can you put it on the github site and compile it for MX Linux 21?

I found this file on the following site;
https://github.com/MX-Linux/mx-datetime ... anslations
@Wallon , as mentioned if there are only identical translations within both [fr] and [fr_BE], we would not need the [fr_BE] on transifex at all. The system will use [fr] for all French languages like [fr_BE], [fr_CA] or [fr_CH]

@ravrett , are you going to pull latest translations and also refresh the desktop file mx-datetime.desktop, with latest translations from "mx-all-desktop-entries". Actually I checked it, but I seem to miss the re-generate the desktop file with "fresh" translations.
Thanks

Dear fehlix,

I'm sorry but when you install MX Linux, you have to make a big difference between a French installation and a French-Belgian installation because the two countries don't use the same keyboard.

You can have a common core for the translations but you have to leave the possibility to choose the localization to link the right keyboard.

Thanks for showing MX Date & Time in French. It is beautiful!

We remain at your disposal to push the translations if it makes too much work for the developers.

Best regards,
Wallon
