Where did you get this information? That's great news.
https://github.com/numixproject/numix-core/issues/4759

I mixed Numix with Papirus, sorry. Still, we can open issue on their tracker and ask them to customize MX.
I actually don't know why MX would require a unique set of icons but if you do...why don't you simply fork Papirus and make the mix? I doubt anyone would complain. If that's too much, why not just provide the Papirus folks with whatever icons you believe are required and missing for MX in the standard Papirus package..
Papirus is default icon set of MX and if it can get tailored and customized for better look on MX I don't see a problem. I just started learning about graphic design but I'll try to help.

I think that is magnificent. Everything here is built on the base of someone's love, energy, and ingenuity. Welcome to the 'real' Linux (Open Source world).

Papirus is by far the best icon set. Can we also get Papirus-folders in the repos? Would love to able to change folders color like on other distros. https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTe ... us-folders

OK, I've saved the Papirus Adapta folders so I can still use them even when the Papirus update removes the Adapta folder icons. Ready for update now....

I added some of the instructions and examples to papirus-folders' description, so you can see those with

Code: Select all

apt show papirus-folders
or Synaptic. There's also "papirus-folders -h", but that's not as easy to copy and paste into a command.

The package is now in the main repo.

Yeah, updated papirus from Test Repo. No real change that I can see except for Alternatives Configurator getting a nice icon.

But there is now a whole lot of other folder colours, which can be used in place of the default blue using the papirus-folders script (which is already in main repo).

I was reading through this thread and got the impression that you didn't really understand what are you discussing in here.
The inconsistent look of MX is NOT the result of missing Papirus icons or a need for MX-Papirus. The problem is MX itself.
How can you expect MX looks 'good' (== consistent) as long as there is somebody proudly presenting something like:
https://mxlinux.org/official-icons/

Speaking about 'Papirus missing icons', take a look here:
https://tgce.pixieset.com/g/

Also, look carefully at the very last slide. You'll see the icons presently used vs. Papirus icons included but NOT used!
OK, I modified a few of the icons, but there is a matching icon even without modifications, just not as suitable.

With other words, everything needed to get MX consistent looks is already included in Papirus. The only thing missing is a will to change it and some understanding of UI/UX and Graphics Design. One person who knows what it's doin' has to sit down and do the job. Just, there's no such person.
Additionally, ther's no will to make it look 'better' (== more consistent).

For the end, to make it clear with 'good' & 'bad' look, I'm not discussing 'like' & 'dislike' -- that's a matter of taste or lack of it -- personal preference.
I'm writing here about 'consistent' (== good) vs. 'inconsistent' (== bad) looks. Consistency is not a matter of taste but style (== 'Design Language').
