Sylvestrini wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 11:56 am Neither XFCE nor KDE 25 betas boot on a Lenovo T430 and a 10 year old HP Envy. Lenovo T480 and X260 boot fine from the same two USB flash drives (used Ventoy for both). The issue is that after I choose to boot in normal mode, it then goes to a black screen with a static underscore. Secure boot is off. I have 23.6 on the same flash drives and they boot fine everywhere.
Would you mind to try booting from a LiveUSB, created in two ways:

A) Using "MX LiveUSB Maker" and keep default [x] full feature mode selected, but possible select GPT under Advanced

B) Create the LiveUSB with [X] Image mode - dd-dump, use any tool you like e.g. MX LiveUSB Maker.

In addtition, in case neither A) or B) would boot in UEFI mode, can you try to select boot from file, within UEFI firmware setup (aka BIOS),
in case such an option exists on those Lenovo's . and navigate to the ESP (EFI System Partition) on the full feature mode generated LiveUSB,
and select grubx64 under /EFI/BOOT/grubx64.efi ( maybe also try shimx64.efi)

This would give (maybe) a clue whether Ventoy related or something else.

Thanks
Thanks Fehlix. Both A and B failed on the Lenoto T430, and I do not see the option to boot from file. Overall, in UEFI it is always the same - as soon as I select to boot from the USB, the screen goes dark. Legacy boots fine. I also tried Rufus (MBR and GPT, ISO and DD) and Balena Etcher in addition to Ventoy (MBR and GPT). I even made a snapshot of MX25 that I had installed on another laptop, created a live usb of that but it still does not want to boot in UEFI. But then in Legacy the snapshot boots fine.

I am sorry for making you waste time reading all this on an issue which is likely not global but entirely local on my end.

Getting weird 404s on the beta repos, last night and this morning. I've used the MX Repo to flip through a couple of US mirrors, and all give the same result.

Confirmed, even using one of our own repos. Try waiting and then retry as maybe the mirrors are updating.

Hi:
In MX-25 Fluxbox, two errors appear during startup with SysVinit that do not occur with SystemD. See attached image.
Best regards
