MX 25 Beta 1 Feedback thread
Re: MX 25 Beta 1 Feedback thread
Hello,
KDE -- first, at the login screen it takes a very long time to recognize my mouse (usb dongle) and keyboard (wired) -- I just have to sit there and wait until I can type something.
Second, I thought I would install the liquorix kernel from the package installer since KDE I believe is ahs, there were errors returned and now when I install anything, I get the following:

Re: MX 25 Beta 1 Feedback thread
I have installed the XFCE AHS SysV Init version on my Acer Aspire V5 which dates from 2012. I figured that my oldest machine would be a better test of the beta than my more modern laptops. Despite its 1366 x 768 resolution, the print on the forum was was tiny and I had to increase the font dpi by 12 points to make it legible. I used MXPI to install Chrome and it went without a hitch. The Chrome installation was also much quicker than it was on my Ryzen equipped Hp 17 two days ago.

Re: MX 25 Beta 1 Feedback thread
Indeed I did. I did state that eg MX 23.6 worked fine on X1, but not the MX 25 XFCE and KDE Plasma betas.Jerry3904 wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 12:03 pm We've not been seeing problems on X1 or other earlier Lenovo boxes much afaik. Did you go into the bios and turn off secure boot?
BTW, I just installed MX 23.6 Plasma on that X1 without any problem.
Enjoy!

Thanks - so far, no issues with live, but I will check in later after doing my usual thing with live (persistence, file creation, suppression of Conky, alternate web browser, etc.)dolphin_oracle wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 9:00 amlive is fine, good even.bradhamilton wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 1:12 amThanks!dolphin_oracle wrote: Sun Sep 21, 2025 9:16 pm This thread is for feedback and issue reports MX-25 beta 1, any flavor.

Is this thread intended for reporting installs only, or can we report as live medium without installation?
If I don't report back, live is good for me at least...

Re: MX 25 Beta 1 Feedback thread
KDE - at first sight seems to be ok, but crashes at reboot after installing nvidia driver.
Screens show underline (cursor) before starting login screen.
So - I'm sorry, but no qsi (tested on my workstation)
ah - and on clicking about on system settings settings crashes.
... and grub has no rescue options :(

Re: MX 25 Beta 1 Feedback thread
Just fired it up(XFCE) in a vm (I'll be staying on MX23 for now) seems to work well.
Is it possible to turn this vm into an ISO for installation at a later date?

Same result for 2009 and 2011 imac:dolphin_oracle wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 11:48 amthank you for the output. do you know if those imacs are 32 bit UEFI? we did rebuild the 32 bit UEFI stuff in live, and it could be missing some modules or something for macs.re-user wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 11:13 am Hi everyone,
little but important problem here tested with:
MX-25_Xfce_beta1_x64.iso
MX-25_Xfce_sysvinit_beta1_x64.iso.
Seems to be a Mac specific problem:
live usb stops with a blank screen and a fixed cursor (no "welcome to grub", and no grub).
-tested with 3 imac and a macbook (2009-2011)
-the same usb boots without problems on an old little atom
-mx-23.5 (on the same usb) grub works well.
I'm too user to guess but I suspect something with the theme of grub.
I had a problem on the same imacs that under previous ubuntu can display grub only if "console" attribute given to grub.
Same imacs have no problem to display mx-23.5 grub and related theme.
I can only attach QSI produced with mx-23, i limit it to 2 imacs:
