nl_NL is Dutch
Dutch - NETHERLANDS (NL) (nl_NL)

nl_BE is definitely not The Netherlands, that's for Belgium. It could be Dutch, but is likely even Flemish. I'd have to consult some Belgian friends on that if you'd want me to.

Oh.. Google to the rescue: https://www.localeplanet.com/icu/nl-BE/index.html

If @siamhie continues to undo what volunteer translators and native speakers write, then there's no point in @Wallon and I wasting our time translating MX Linux. Let's let @siamhie use the automatic translator and MX Linux have poorly written texts from the automatic translator.

How I did it:

Name[pt_BR]=Configurações do Appfinder
GenericName[pt_BR]=Configurador do pesquisador e inicializador de programas
Comment[pt_BR]=O ‘Appfinder Settings’ permite configurar o pesquisador e inicializador de programas Appfinder
Keywords[pt_BR]=appfinder;configurações;definições;configurador;pesquisador;buscador;localizador;aplicativos;aplicação;programas;iniciador;lançador;executar;opções;mxfb;

As @siamhie did:

Name[pt_BR]=Configurações do appfinder
Comment[pt_BR]=Opções de configuração

The @siamhie removed the "GenericName[pt_BR]" and "Keywords[pt_BR]" entries, as well as modifying the text in the "Name[pt_BR]" and "Comment[pt_BR]" entries.

If @siamhie is the boss of MX Linux and can do whatever he wants, then I'll leave it to him to translate all of MX Linux and the ".desktop" files into Brazilian Portuguese.

I won't waste any more time checking to see if @siamhie or anyone else who can't read, write, or speak Brazilian Portuguese changed the translations I made.

I translate antiX and MX with the best interests of Brazilian users in mind. But if this isn't valuable and can be changed by people unfamiliar with Brazilian Portuguese, then I don't know if it's worth continuing to volunteer my time and work for MX.

@Wallon, I recommend you check the changes made to your translations.

I apologize if I bothered anyone.

- - - - -

Se o @siamhie continuar desfazendo o que os tradutores voluntários e nativos dos idiomas escrevem, então não faz sentido o @Wallon e eu perdemos o nosso tempo para traduzir o MX Linux. Deixemos que o @siamhie utilizar o tradutor automático e o MX Linux tenha textos mal feitos pelo tradutor automático.

Como eu fiz:

Name[pt_BR]=Configurações do Appfinder
GenericName[pt_BR]=Configurador do pesquisador e inicializador de programas
Comment[pt_BR]=O ‘Appfinder Settings’ permite configurar o pesquisador e inicializador de programas Appfinder
Keywords[pt_BR]=appfinder;configurações;definições;configurador;pesquisador;buscador;localizador;aplicativos;aplicação;programas;iniciador;lançador;executar;opções;mxfb;

Lembrando que as aspas curvas simples ou duplas não causam problemas no arquivo ".desktop" (estas aspas são retas) ou na exibição da tradução na interface gráfica.

Como o @siamhie fez:

Name[pt_BR]=Configurações do appfinder
Comment[pt_BR]=Opções de configuração

I'll speak to siamhie to stay out of adjusting native speaker translations. He might wanted to help, which seems didn't go well.
So, suggest, calm down and yes, please help MX and antiX to provide translations for Brazilian Portugues.
Thanks

@marcelocripe, in order to tag someone, type the @ key, start typing the username, and then click on the popup. That will change the color of the name and turn it into a mention.

Users will not get notified that you mentioned them if you don't use it that way.

I only copied the list that was posted in comment #1. I didn't add or change anything. I didn't double check my work put out by Eadwine and Utopia and that's my fault.

I used Google to translate these two phrases. Name=Appfinder Settings and Comment=Configuration options. Nothing else.

I got that information from here. https://simplelocalize.io/data/locale-code/nl-BE/

First link, in the top: "The locale code represents Dutch language in Belgium country." It even has a Belgian flag, that is not the Dutch flag.

Proper Dutch: https://simplelocalize.io/data/locale-code/nl-NL/

If you want to use Dutch, please use that one, not Belgian Dutch. They are not the same.

Fun one: dress.

We call that jurk.
Belgian will go to kleedje.
Kleedje means rug in Dutch. I am not going to wear a rug.

Other things is sentence building. Belgians use u for you. We will use u and je/jij depending on situations.

It is just weird to use Belgian for Dutch.

Some may even find it offensive/insulting.

I grabbed that list of locales from the about-mx-linux.desktop file so that I could search for the language of the locale codes.
(I've updated my template to show only [nl], which is what is shown in this threads desktop file.

From that web site, showed this regarding nl. (I don't know why there are so many different flags for the same language--not my web site, not my problem :happy: )

Languages are interesting when compared to around the world.
For instance, in the UK, you can call someone a c*nt and they would be fine with it, whereas if applied to the US, it's offensive.

There are so many because they speak it in many different countries. All variations of the basic version, which is nl_NL.
