We won't install another browser and we'll keep the same browser (Firefox) on all flavors.
Just before people get overexcited about this and start to propose other browsers...
Some ideas for MX Linux 25 KDE
Re: Some ideas for MX Linux 25 KDE
On Qt based desktops Chromium based browsers will automatically launch with the Qt frontend. What I found out on my LXQt installation is that Chrome can't handle the gtk2 Qt style. It will crash at launch. So you can use KDE with Breeze (and probably other Qt styles as well), but avoid the gtk2 Qt style with Chromium based browsers. Firefox is based on gtk so immune against this. This doesn't apply to XFCE where Chrome(ium) uses gtk by default.DeepDayze wrote: Tue Aug 05, 2025 2:37 pm
I tried Vivaldi and Brave both on MX-23.6 KDE and while they both launch they don't show any window and no errors seen when launching. Vivaldi DOES work fine however on Trixie KDE (which has KDE 6.3.6). Let us know if it does work for you as it may be a possibility something in my setup is borken.

That's neat. What's that theme called?
Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: Aspire AL14-31P

I think the Plasma theme and Kwin theme is Fluent Round. The Qt style is original Breeze with Breeze (Classic?) Light color scheme with one of the predefined accent colors in KDE System Settings. Icons are Win11 icons from pling.com.

I consider an AI assistant of the “Terminal GPT” type indispensable, and if possible one that can also help you with graphical-environment software.
I don't speak English well. I use AI for the translation.

Those are not things we can install from the box, you can always add it and use your account or API key, pretty much all have instructions for installation and it's very simple, it's usually a matter of installing Node.js and then running a command.nosoynadie wrote: Fri Aug 08, 2025 4:50 pm I consider an AI assistant of the “Terminal GPT” type indispensable, and if possible one that can also help you with graphical-environment software.

I'm sure you know more than me, about AI anyone can know more than me. But I understood that there are those capable of working locally and/or without API keys.
