Wine broken - MX 21.3?

#1 Post by rdcuff »

Hello - I used to have a working wine installation, but it has disappeared. When I tried to reinstall using either the MX Package Manager or Synaptic Package Manager, I get a "broken dependencies" error.

It sounds like this has been a problem with other versions of MX Linux as well.

Synaptic Package Manager reports the following errors:

-------------------------
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies
-----------------------

When I try to fix broken packages, none are reported by apt-get.

Wnen I click on the "Not Installed (residual configuration)" item these errors are reported:

-----------------------------
wine-staging:

Package wine-staging has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

and:

---------------------------
wine-staging-amd64:

Package wine-staging-amd64 has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

I've browsed some of the forums and attempted the recommended fixes but I always come back to the errors above. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Fix broken dependencies

Code: Select all

sudo apt install -f
Actually MX don't need winehq repo.
Latest wine-staging available from MX Package Installer > MX test repo tab
