new MX install wont wake up from sleep

Hi i just replaced MX 19xx with the latest all went well and is working fine except until I walk away for a while. When I come back the screen is black with a functioning cursor but will not wake up or maybe it is awake but the screen is black as 1 time when i was randomly clicking around the screen sound started playing .. Requires reboot and the is fine until it sleeps again How do fix that? the machine is an old 2 core duo probably the fastest/latest cpu thay did plenty of ram and a SSD..
i have try to find any setting that i could switch sleep off but not find, my googling only came up with the same question on hera a year ago and no one answered thanks dave

that was my 1st through the screan saver settings but i can't find them ..linux was my main OS for a few years up until mint 9..i only stopped using it when mint 10 broke compiz and i lost the cube i went window but had to get 2 monitors to make up for the lost cube ..this pc i basically use it to make the tv smart so only has to run chrome and i can literally go a year or so without looking for anything.. so now its like an OS i never see before..also one of my pet hates with linux was naming things with silly names that give you no clue to what they are ..so if you can point me where to look i would be most helpful

From the MX Menu, type in screensa and you should see what ever screen saver your running.

If your still running the XFCE4 screen saver, then
__ on the main screen you wan to change the "Regard the computer as idle after: ( I believe default is 10 min, change it to say 30 min for a test. )
__ There should be a power management button on the bottom of that first screen as well, click that and your Powe Manager dialog should show up. Change your settings in here.

If your using XScreenSaver, then
__ On the main screen, change Blank After: (again to something like 30 min )
__ On the Advanced tab, enable Power Management, change the times, then uncheck Power Management Enabled.

What you have just done, is write out the values to the configs, which had an issue in one update on *some* machines.

Test the problem after that.

And if you still have xfce4 screensaver on board, I strongly suggest that you remove it and then install XScreensaver ( both can be done from the MX Package Installer )

I just started experiencing the same thing -- ie, black screen after waking up from sleep, only cursor can be seen -- but it was on my existing MX23 KDE (so it's not mx23 xfce like the OP, nor a fresh install), after installing updates yesterday .

I won't insert my issues into this thread but will be following it closely. I'll open my own thread if I have to.

For now, I have other distros on this machine I'm behind on upgrading.

No only 1 monitor on this PC...the 2 monitors was part of my ramblings when i went from Mint 9 with the cube desktop to windows to make up for losing the cube

UPDATE
after trying one or 2 things to no avail i switch off the screensaver and the lock screan thinking that has to cure it , but no just got home have black screan with a working pointer ..i check the screensaver and lock screan and are still off...anybody else with this problem i have no problem of you joining this thread

one of the things i think i did was to switch of power management but i did not ..its off now so will see what happens
