MX Package UPDATER Appearance

#1 Post by Ironfighter »

I have two machine running MX 23 Libretto. The appearance of the package installer on this machine (info below) is quite bland compared with my other machine which has many colours. Everything is working fine but I am wondering if there is a cosmetic tweak I can apply which will change the current appearance?

Compare the themes used between both computers.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Is your other machine also on MX23- XFCE or KDE? What theme are you using for the other machine? Take a screenshot of your other machine so we know what you are talking about.

Since the default look for both MX XFCE and KDE is a clean light theme (mx-comfort for XFCE; Breeze + mxcomfort colour scheme for KDE plasma), I'm not sure where your "many colours" came from on the other machine unless you yourself applied it.
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

You can apply many colors when you select a different theme.
MX-23.6_x64 July 31 2023 * 6.1.0-37amd64 ext4 Xfce 4.20.0 * 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 2700

Samsung 870EVO * Samsung S24D330 & P2250 * HP Envy 5030

I think both are XFCE I can't take a screenshot because the the second machine is up to date and the difference is only apparent after I click the green icon on the panel and enter my password.
Attached is a screen shot from MX Tweak - both themes are identical except for the cursor - the cursor on my "Bland" machine is set to default.

It's hard for me to envisage what you mean by the second system having "many colours" if the theme is the same. What about the icons? Are you using the same icon set?

Could you use your phone to take photos of the second machine's desktop or MX tweak window or whatever element you are referring to as having many colours, and post it here or host it on a photo host site and provide a link to it?
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Thanks for your response. I will check on the icons tomorrow (both machines shut down now). As far as the “many colours” I won’t be able to do it till I run the next update - maybe also tomorrow. When I do I will post it.

Perhaps @Ironfighter is referring to the notification rather than mxpi itself?

Open "notifications" from the menu and check if both machines are using the same theme.
