problem with pychess

#1 Post by bartkremers »

I have a problem with running pychess in MX23 KDE version. I get the message that ...pychess/main.py has no execution rights after a fresh install of pychess. Maybe somebody has the same issue?

Thanks for the help

I have installed it with MX Package installer.I have installed pychess on a Kubuntu VM and that works fine! I can't find the cause why it isn't working on MX23 KDE?

Re: problem with pychess

#4 Post by j2mcgreg »

I just installed it on my HP 17 (XFCE) and it went without a hitch.
On which of your three internal drives did you install MX? I'm asking because your Seagate HDD is about twelve years old and could be the source of your problem (if it's in play).
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Try purging and reinstalling it, maybe that will help. It's kind of like doing a power cycle on a modem to fix it...
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing
