I did try your Kvantum theme. It seemed to work alright. There were parts that could have benefitted from better contrast and the colors were somewhat different than I remember mx-comfort. But all in all it seems you have created a working Kvantum theme. So that's a good start if you want to continue some day.
Thank you for the feedback. Yes, I think the current look/colour of the kvantum themes is somewhere between mx-comfort and the newer gtk theme.

Also, it's not a one-for-one replacement of colour values for each element. A change of colour value might change other elements in the Qt window (tested with Kvantum manager preview function) that was not intended.

So there's still work to do on it. But I don't have the time right now.

@asqwerth
I took a screenshot with your Kvantum theme. It is definitely usable and nothing looks “off”.
I reduced opacity with 20 %, but kept pcmanfm-qt fully opaque. The only thing I’m missing is some transparency in the tooltips. I don’t know how that works, but maybe I will look into it.

By the way, I like these colors better than the original mx-comfort colors.

Here is how I got rid of annoying “focus frames” that many Qt styles implement. In the Kvantum config file I commented out two original lines and set them to false instead.

Code: Select all

[Focus]
inherits=PanelButtonCommand
#frame=true
frame=false
frame.element=focus
frame.top=1
frame.bottom=1
frame.left=1
frame.right=1
frame.patternsize=20

[GenericFrame]
inherits=PanelButtonCommand
#frame=true
frame=false
interior=false
frame.element=common
interior.element=common
frame.top=3
frame.bottom=3
frame.left=3
frame.right=3

WHat do you mean by focus frame? Is it the border/outline that appears around buttons when you press it?

Anyway, I've copied your lines into a text file for future examination/testing. Eventually. :p

Thanks!

It's an internal border around the current view area, often quite thick. Often the current "accent color" is used. Kvantum has this border enabled by default. I think there are many "sublime" Kvantum themes that lose their elegance by this internal colorized border. You don't really see this in gtk themes unless the dev really wanted such a thing.

It's subjective like anything related to theming, but I think KDE removed it from the Breeze theme so you no longer have a colorful internal border surrounding the view area in Dolphin or Pcmanfm-Qt. I think Breeze used to have it enabled in the KDE4 cycle.

I enabled it temporarily in Qterminal because there is an option for it in the preferences window. If it doesn’t look bad in Qterminal it’s because the internal view area is aligned with the window border.

I continue my quest to modify LXQt to reach feature parity with XFCE. This can be done if gtk applications are accepted into the mix. What’s the point of LXQt with gtk applications if the main value proposition of LXQt is tied to the capabilities of the Qt toolkit? Well, that’s a good question that is hard to answer.

I noticed that there are LXQt, MATE and XFCE panel plugins for DockbarX. So I used DockbarX to mimic Docklike in XFCE. I kind of feel DockbarX is superior to Docklike (no missing icons so far) so I would like to use it in XFCE as well, but the XFCE plugin requires Trixie so I will wait for MX-25 Beta.

I would like Screenlets to still be an option, but that project is dead. So no desktop gadgets for XFCE and LXQt.

Thanks. It's easy to like something that one has put a lot of effort into. But ready-made setups/distros do save some time. Sometimes I wonder why I bother with LXQt (there are better desktops if all you want is to get some work done) or even Linux at all. But it is the most (computer-related) fun I can think of since I'm not really much of a gamer.

I understand completely and I use Enlightenment and now Moksha with same motivations.. Like LXQt they have a lot of good features and ingenuity but there is some finishing work and configuration that still needs doing and in those details lies the fun.. :happy:
