Hi. What I started doing in a recent thread was compile the various solution fragments into my final post by assembling quotes from the Solvers' posts with additional interstitial context, information and experience. Then I then marked my own post as the final condensed solution and then credited the Solvers. A little bit of extra work but, with any luck, it may mean future searches yield a single-click solution.

This makes a lot of sense, and I really like this concept. It ALSO seems like a method someone could automate (which could help ensure that "reposting content" doesn't generate too much clutter).

Now, I have to do some studying on how to incorporate more than just one of the really good ideas and suggestions I'm seeing above. Sadly, I have NONE of the skills needed to pursue the "automation" idea.

Ok.. you either click the checkmark or you don't and you do something else. Can we please put this to rest?

Yeah, there's obvious issues with that. There used to be (perhaps on other BB's) ways to press a button that marks the thread solved - but does NOT attempt to identify one - or any - specific post(s) as "the solution". Having one of those, plus automating what @retroD0d0 was discussing, might be MY (perhaps not everyone's) ideal solution (??)

What other forums do is not relevant here. We are not changing nor adding to the current way things are being done.

Sorry, I thought this was the forum for members to discuss these sorts of ideas. In fact, you moved this topic to this specific forum. Are there certain topics that we are banned (or discouraged) from discussing ? I must admit that I am confused by this. But, let's learn the lesson that this subject appears to be "taboo"and move on.

I will continue to read any additional replies, but (per request) I will not be posting in this topic any more.

It's not taboo. It's that you asked the question and it was answered...completely.
Therefore, I am locking this thread.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.
