Great suggestion. I will do exactly this in the future. THANK YOU

(in fact, I'm going to do it right here, right now)

I'd suggest putting the edit at the top of the post instead of the bottom to make it more easily discoverable by anyone, and less likely to be skipped by someone who sees "I'm having trouble with MX on my AE-35 unit..." and who might assume you clicked Solved on the wrong thing. Possibly with a date so folks know you've come back with new information about the solution.

I miss to days when we could give posters Rep Points.

Positive or negative reputation points?

If I was in this predicament where there were several posts that gave a solution or significantly contributed to the solution, and since marking "Solved" is limited to only one post, I would make a new post and mark that as "Solved" because that post will contain all the posts that provided a solution or helped in some way, etc. Each post would be identified with its post number as well as its associated link. Providing a link for each post will make it easy to open each post in a separate window rather than having to manually navigate to each one.

The reason I would not just edit the first post with the solved information is because that will not bring the thread to the top of the list of new posts. If someone makes a new post in the thread, then sure, but it is not certain that a new post will be made after just editing the original post (unless the original poster does that). If the thread does not appear at the top of the "new posts" list, then it will be difficult for people following the thread to know that a solution has been given, regardless of being subscribed to the thread or not (being subscribed to a thread will not provide a notification to a user when an old post is just edited).

Let's just say it didn't do my reputation any good.

Once you get on Rose's bad side it's tough around here.

LOL. the thing to avoid is editing the title like you did by hand, adding a [Solved] which is annoying, when you press the check it does it for yourself and it does it in a standard way, no [solve] vs [Solved vs. [Sovled]... and it's a different color and when you click on that it takes you to the post that solves the thread...

Interesting subject that I never thought of it in this way. I would in the past just post, "Thank you for all who helped" followed by putting a check on the last answer of a solution. I guess in this case a better solution is to mark the best answer or the last good answer and write in the reply: the "#" of each correctly answered post then followed by the "name" then thank them all. This way everyone would know all the solutions to the issue and no one would be left out.
