Brightness keys quit working after laptop is on for hours. [Solved]

Dell Inspiron 15-5578 Laptop. MX-23.6_x64
My Keyboard controls don't work the display brightness where they do in all my other OS's. I tried MX
tools "Brightness Systray" and it doesn't launch or do anything. at present it's too bright for my eyes and the only solution for me is to boot another OS.

MX doesn't have an official MATE ISO but you can install it from the repo after installing one of the official desktops.
