Pidgin - Facebook ERROR

#1 Post by Seagasm »

I downloaded the necessary files for the installation of purple-facebook plugin, I don't appear to have any errors. When I log onto facebook I get this error.

Failed to read thrift: api.c:1897 fb_api_cb_publish_pt: assertion 'fb_thrift_read_stop(thft)' failed

This appears in the error notice within Pidgin and no buddies appear. Does anyone have a solution here? Thank you.

Please post your QSI. ( MX Menu, Quick System Info, Copy for Forum, Paste here )
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

So many unanswered questions about every aspect of this. Can you guess a few?

The error seems to have been around quite a while: https://github.com/dequis/purple-facebook/issues/364
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

This is likely a result of Facebook changing their API a few times since the program in question was initially released.

Have you taken this up with the program's author? I used to use it years ago.
