Transparent Panel Line Showing

#1 Post by JmaCWQ »

Hello All,

On my only install of MX-23 on a laptop, when I try to create a transparent panel using a transparent .png as a background, it leaves a visible line around the edges of the panel.

Anyone know how to remove that line?

My other MX installs (21.3) this doesn't happen using the same transparent .png as the background.
Changing the width or height of the panel makes no difference and it appears to be only along the panel's edges.
Creating a new .png makes no difference.

Thanks

It's probably a compositor thing. You could compare your compositor settings for MX21 and MX23. The QSI you posted shows MX23 has the xfwm compositor on.

It should be in the WIndow Manager settings. There are 2 WM entries in the applications menu. It's the one with the longer name (sorry I'm booted into a non-XFCE distro right now).
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Many thanks @asqwerth for the tip, 'Show shadows under dock windows' was checked in Settings > Window Manager Tweaks > Compositor in MX 23 but not in MX 21.
