Most important question I have, is this guide bellow still current, if I want to Chroot into my system via live USB stick, since it is from 2016.

Long:
I saw services manager and I got a wonderful idea, to tidy up my system
I disabled these services:
- glances (it is top like terminal app I installed at some point, don't need service to constantly run, disabling it, couldn't hurt)
- cups (don't have printer, this was probably a mistake)
- cups-browsed (also don't use network printer either)
After this system, wouldn't boot into SysVinit. Naturally, boots into systemd
So I tried Chroot commands - adjusted to my: /dev/sda3 - from upper link. Had no errors. After I entered all the commands from upper guide and I was chrooted(?!?), I ran (terminal was already sudo)
service --status-all
and
update-rc.d glances enable (found these commands in some older forum post)
Only problem I had was, I masked cups service some long time ago. I can't recall the command and how to unmask it.
Because cups service is masked, I couldn't enable it. I did enable glances and cups-browsed. Of course I was keep using chrooted terminal for al these commands.
I tried also
update-rc.d cups unmask
update-rc.d cups defaults
What is really strange is, if I later ran: service --status-all , there was still - (minus) in front of glances. Like I didn't enable it.
So I'm curious, what I'm doing wrong and how to properly: chroot, unmask and enable services.
It is a non priority post, more for learning purpose. I can log into systemd and use computer normally.
My guess is, after I executed commands from upper guide, I was probably still not properly chrooted...
