@SpongeBOB Take a look at Midnight Lizard. It is much more customizable than Dark Reader.SpongeBOB wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 4:58 am @DukeComposed Thanks I've set it to Filter+ it's already better... not like a native will be, but it does the trick.
But I'm still incline to make a dark theme is the moderators are open to it.
Building a Dark theme for MX Linux Forum
Re: Building a Dark theme for MX Linux Forum
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Thank you all for your input and your recommendation for better dark style browser addons.

Thank you so much for recommending this extension! I have a hard time seeing when the default theme for a site is light. It's hard or me to read the text. I'm usually having to increase the size of the text just so I can see it. Dark themes enable me to see much more clearly! I wear glasses and still have a hard time seeing! I think my eyes are getting worse every year. I just installed that extension and it's much better for me! Thanks again!AK-47 wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 8:30 amI wouldn't mind a dark theme personally, and I am thankful that now computing with dark themes has significantly improved.Germ wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 8:08 am Wouldn't a dark theme be a user choice? If you don't like it, don't use it. At least you would have the option.
I don't understand all the negativity.....
That said, I suspect the negativity comes from the fact that web apps such as phpBB are a complete pain in the behind, and seemingly simple requests are unbearably complicated to implement. Then again I haven't admin'd a phpBB forum for well over a decade now.
Anything that explicitly has to be installed also needs support, and there simply isn't enough manpower for that. Software needs to get updated, web apps are no exception, which means themes need to be maintained to ensure compatibility. Great, OP proposes to make a dark theme, but is the OP willing to keep up with maintenance or will OP lose interest and abandon it and expect the MX forum admins to pick up the pieces?
If you are on Firefox there's Dark Background and Light Text extension. I am in fact using it on this forum as I speak and setting it to "Default" gives very good results, and so far hasn't caused any trouble. I have tried other extensions but they hog up resources. A dark theme would be nice of course, but failing that, I now have an extension I can apply to every other site too, not just sites which have dark mode functionality.
