Rustdesk password problem after reinstall

#1 Post by kd4e »

A power surge, or something, corrupted the admin password for the RustDesk Client install on my MX Linux laptop.

I uninstalled it. Deleted ~/.config/RustDesk.toml, rebooted, then reinstalled.

It fails to prompt me to create an admin password but demands one when I try to change settings.

In ~/.config/RustDesk.toml (a new .toml is created after reinstall) it shows password = ' ' (It's unclear if that's the admin password or is for logging into a detected RustDesk client elsewhere.)

What do I need to do to force RustDesk Client to reinstall cleanly - so that I can create a new admin password, please?

Thanks!

could try to delete the "rustdesk" directory in .config/rustdesk

Code: Select all

cd .config ; rm -rf rustdesk [\code]

in addition from cmdline try grep -Einlr "rust" $HOME/*
and also delete remove any previous remnant prior the re-install
as a thought.

What would prevent Rustdesk from loading "libcuda.so.1", please?

This causes hundreds of lines to scroll, most of them unrelated ...

OK, it seems that Uninstall doesn't uninstall everything ...

So, I've gone through and manually deleted everything "rustdesk" that I could find.

NO JOY ... even after all of that, when I reinstall - same problem.

RustDesk, at least in MX Linux, appears to have their Client admin password buried
somewhere - without an associated "rustdesk" label.

Arghhh!

Is there any chance that this might remove other "rust" files, unrelated to Rustdesk?

Code: Select all

grep -Einlr "rust" $HOME/*

OK, thanks, just wanted to be certain.

BTW: The error I'm experiencing is not in the Client-to-Cloud-to-Client connection but rather the Client -> Settings Admin Password (see pic).

This is the screen where the password reset failure is occuring:
