hello, I have had one nagging sound issue, it's been cutting in and out whenever the cpu is under high stress loads here, let me give you smarter people the output, I'm about ready to give up and change back over windows 11 if i can't get solve this.

Also yes I've looked online/googled this problem, and I don't know if it is an improvement but... the sound just doesn't work AT ALL now.

Have you by any chance downloaded a users respin instead of one of our supported ISO's?

We do not provide the LXQT desktop and respins are conditionally supported where the assembler of the respin takes on the responsibility of supporting their own work. Your Audio is certainly messed up with pipewire installed but not running and you're running Wayland, which when paired with Debian Stable is at best experimental.

I can't see if you use USB powered speakers but in general your QSI says I likely better stay away from technical support in this case.
At least in details.
However if you don't have other plans than jumping back to windows because you have used random Terminal commands to set up something, then I think you need a better plan. :-)
Almost every newbie who explore Linux are in risk of crashing their system.
That can be dealt with in different ways.
For me it was a huge relief when I started to use a spare test computer. On that I can test everything before I install it on the one for serious work.
Then a good backup system (always a must) with copy and snapshot can cover my need.
If the test computer crashes, then I can just do a fast new install with a snapshot.
If you only have one computer for Linux then perhaps Timeshift is something for you.
Also when you find good config it can be a super good idea to write down in a file exactly how you did it so it will be easy for you to repeat it later.
Take your time and don't give up. :-)

@Randyghgu It may be easier on you as a newbie to reinstall than figure out this issue. (And personally, I would install either xfce or KDE to start with and learn from, then move to an LXQT after a little more experience.)

Jakob77 has a couple of good points that I will say a little differently :-)
1) It would be *very* good for you to load Timeshift and get too using it. Timeshift will backup your system files (Not your user files!), so you can create a backup of your system area before any modifications to it. (Think of it like a windows Restore Point). AND, personally, I think it should run daily, and before you do any upgrades / or mods. )

2) An MX snapshot is a great way to 'save it all' and setup in case it all goes south - user data included if you have the room. And you can use that to bring your system back if it is seriously borked.

3) Get your self a backup. I like Back-In-Time ( MX Package Installer), but you can use Lucky backup or any of the backup programs to save your data.

4) Document your mods! One of the things I suggest to people is to document your modifications to your system. I know this sounds very old school and tedious, but it does several things for you:
__a) It provides a much needed "path to reverse" should things go badly.
__b) It creates a "dont to THAT again" list
__c) Creates an excellent list of what to do if you have to start over again - ie list all things I did to get what I want.
__d) Helps you learn. Most people learn best by writing things down!


If you really want to attempt to fix the sound. I think your best bet here is to reinstall pipewire and get that working first and see if that resolves it. Start with reinstalling pipewire from the MX Package Installer - and personally I would use the Test repo tab and install pipewire version 1.4.1, which fixes a few things, and get it active and turned on. Once that is done, then see how things are.

no I have dowloaded the pi version I have the x64 ahs version.

i have a 10 year old computer i used to run Pure Debain and i recently only got this computer, I've ran mainly Pure Debian for my life, so mxlinux is a bit different, do you recommend i change back over debain instead of dealing with the hassle that is mxlinux?

personally I think MX is better for users than pure debian. MX tweaks and differences are usually minimal, but things are a bit different.
if your used to systemd that could be some of the issue here as MX leans into sysvinit. Also, I think MX is coupled better with XFCE or KDE depending upon which version you choose...

I do not know if debian leans one way or the other for a DE... but I know most of what I have seen MX xfce or MX KDE is pretty good and imo better for most users than pure debian is.

I've been at this game for the best part of 28 years running Linux on the Desktop, and on servers and I can emphatically say MX is hands down supremely better for Desktop use than is Debian.

The main point of difference folk tend to miss between these two is, we build on Debian Stable, therefore our packages may be older and seem to be a lesser offering, but if that's the way they see things, then they need to run something that better matches their desires. There's nothing wrong with using older progams if they fit your needs, and when you need something later, we have a means whereby that may be catered fro in our Package requests and out Testing Repos available through MXPI.

Reading into what you said, and correct me of I am wrong, you may have chosen to add the LXQT DE and somehow come to the point where something is not working as you'd expect?
