I just used the standard apt update then apt upgrade. Have you tried updating KDE using MX Package Installer? Open the program and go to the Enabled Repos tab and look for the update button at the bottom.

I don't know what commands you ran in the terminal, so the next best thing was to use the package installer to upgrade the system.
Appreciate the advice, will get on to it as soon as I backup everything.
