Although the dl has a 'Good signature from "Mullvad (code signing)' we get a warning when opening the app UNSUPPORTED app version.
What is going on?

should have given you confirmation that this version is released by Mullvad.

provides latest desktop MullvadVPN version 2025.6.
MXPI fetches from github, mainly b/c the mullvad repo had shown some bandwidth issue - at least within the past.
So if you have problems with the latest version of the app, you can create a ticket with Mullvad and ask why your paid version is supposedly not supported.

Yea, but we can't use their deb repo with apt directly when running SysVinit, as it would show this known issue:

i'm just saying mullvadvpn released 2025.6. anyone with that repo enabled would have it.

Mullvad pulled 2025.6 because of "severe usability issues that flooded our support staff and pissed off users (for good reasons)."

However, version 2025.6 does work, for me at least.
