No sound on speakers after uninstalling easyeffects

Hi, I recently uninstalled easyeffects (and it's plugins) since I wasn't using it. . After that I suddenly have no sound on my speakers. The headphones work as usual. When playing from my firefox bowser, I see the volume moving in the audio mixer. I've looked at MX select sound and the only option is PCH HDA Intel. When I select test sound card nothing happens. I also looked at ALSA, but don't see anything helpful there, Nothing is muted. I have pipewire installed. I've restarted several times, but still no speaker sound. I'd truly apprecaite any ideas about how to get the speaker sound back. Thanks!

Have you tried reinstalling easyeffects + plugins?

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Check under PulseAudio Volume Control.

Occasionally, some members don't do this, but I'd recommend checking the tabs in this order, Configuration occasionally being overlooked:
Configuration, Output, Playback.

Maybe it still points to easyeffects. You can set the default sink by specifying the desired output using the number shown next to it like this, eg.:

-j2mcgreg I tried to reinstall easyeffects and plugins, but still no sound.
- siamhie I'm not sure what you mean by "check under PulseAudio Volume Control". Obviously I've got the app open and everything seems to be normal. Do you mean searching in the MX forum or Google? Can you be more specific, please.

What tabs are you referring to? Not familiar with"configuration." Can you possibly explain more?
sunrat I'm keeping in mind what you said about wireplumber, but first: maybe I gave up to fast, but I DECIDED TO REINSTALL MX LINUX OS. BUT UNBELIEVABLY THE SOUND STILL DOESN'T WORK on the new 0S! So now I realize I've got a real problem.
The current situation is: On a new MX-OS there is no sound to speakers (Edifier). Sound works normal on headphones. It's not the speakers or the speaker connection (everything is plugged in properly and I get a hum sound when I unplug the cables. Pulse volume control shows firefox browser playing and the volume bar moves with the music; nothing is muted anywhere. I looked at MX select sound: it shows PCH HDA Intel active with no other option. One other thing, When I play music from my browser I get a less than a second sound and then, nothing. Anyway, I don't understand how this no speaker sound could have started with the removal of easyeffects + plugins and continued with a re-installation of the OS (speaker sound was perfectly normal before that) . Weird, right? Any new ideas??

I have used the following to fix 'no sound' on a few machines.

1) run alsomixer in a terminal
2) F6 and choose your sound card
3) F5 to choose all channels.
4) One by one, press + to increase the sound on each channel. Use the > key to move to the next channel. There ARE more channels then shown on the FIRST screen! so you have to go through every screen / channel, and increase each one as far as it will go. ( keep using the > key to the next screens and channels. )
5) Now try sound. You may decrease the volume with the regular Volume control in the task bar.

Also verify that when you use the pulse audio mixer (volume control) , that your speakers are set on the following tabs:
- Output devices
- Playback
- Configuration.
Any of those *may* still be set to try to output to easyeffects still.

Do you get sound if you plug the speakers into the headphone port instead.

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Check under PulseAudio Volume Control.
I was trying to tiptoe around the fact that some people overlook the Configuration tab (or to be very direct, (are too stupid/unfamiliar to check the Configuration tab. The GUI part of pavucontrol, starts at Configuration, if it's not set correctly, the other tab setting won't do squat, hence my suggested order.

@MXRobo I am going to suggest that you do not use the term "stupid" in the forum. Not only is it derogatory, but in many cases there are multiple options that are not clear for many things, and quite a few people are not techies and glaze over when they start looking at all the choices.

It is great that you want to help, and I think your help is valid in many places.. but lets please be considerate.
