dhclient is what takes of that file on sysvinit AFAIK, I'm not familiar with systemd-resolved, it might be a configuration issue or make sure that service is enabled.

how do I check dhclient service on sysvinit ?

It seems when rebooting from systemd to sysvinit , the /etc/resolv.conf file is empty .
Maybe it happens because I installed systemd-resolved (I was afraid I'll have same issues as I did with my first snapshot ) , before taking the second snapshot and it replaces resolv.conf with a symlink when booting with systemd .

I'll leave it as it is since "it just works" and I don't want to (further) mess with the system. It's a backup PC , although it served me fine as a main far too long , but I wanted to make sure everything works since when I'll use it again , it will be in an "emergency" situation !
