Haha,

I try to be open to both camps but I would agree the Logo Icon was probably due for an overhaul since the program has essentially been ported to GTK3 and looks quite different itself..

A cursory look at Distrowatch and any theme/icon search will definitely tell you that we are 98.64% in FLAT territory these days so it should certainly not come as a surprise that Wilber (sp?) was doomed to be flattened..

Even at 64x27, the one on the left still retains it's shading and shadowing.

It's a shame but progress forward I guess. I am looking forward to trying out GIMP 3.

+1 on the old wilber. Or the blaze version ( which I seem to have all over the place? )

For a graphics program, you would think that they would want to show off it's capabilities. Even that blaze version looks so much better.
This kinda goes back to my older skeuomorphic UI design topic asking why MX was sticking so hard to a flat theme. The answer I got from that though is UI consistency I guess...

The flat version is a bit better for that, yes, but not enough to make a difference. I would say it's still pretty clear what program that icon is for.

Gimp fails to build on backports from Sid. Even exact rebuilds of other backports that have been successful, such as Ubuntu Handbook's, fail with the same error, so I'm going to look again at my new backport of gegl to see if that's at fault.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

You might try an Appimage in the meantime, if it exists.

Roger that. Hopefully you'll be able to get around that, but if not, the AppImage is fine too I suppose.

Now that 3.0.2 is out and fixed lot of things, is flatpak the way to go? (as enabled repo offers 2.10 and test repo offers 3.0RC2)
