I have a freind who has MX21 installed on his machine and is unable to login with his credentials ... I would like to reset his passwd using Recovery Mode (have to do it by calling him on his phone ... impossible to obtain his QSI because he can't login) ... how do I access it?
TNX in advance

Re: Mx 21 Recovery Mode
He can get the QSI by booting from the Live USB.

Re: Mx 21 Recovery Mode
Unfortunately, he doesn't have a Live medium to boot from anymore. The only thing I can think of is to reset his passwd by accessing the Recovery Mode Menu so I can have him get to the root shell prompt to issue the reset.

I suggest that you create a USB drive and then mail it to him.Zeke wrote: Thu Apr 10, 2025 9:56 am Unfortunately, he doesn't have a Live medium to boot from anymore. Or if he has access to a Windows machine belonging to a relative, friend or neighbour, you could walk him through creating one using Rufus.

Re: Mx 21 Recovery Mode
One other question: when his machine was set up was a root account set up or was the default sudo just used?

TNX j2mcgreg!
The best option is to create a MX21 usb drive and mail to him ... after that he can boot from it and access MX Tools to recreate his passwds ... TNX again ... problem solved!
