Flatpaks Tab is Broken for Me

#1 Post by Arnox »

I tested this on a LiveUSB and wasn't able to replicate this, so I'm pretty sure this is just me. Running mx-packageinstaller in the console gives this error.

"Could not list packages from flathub remote, or remote doesn't contain packages"

No packages whatsoever will display in the list window, installed or otherwise. I'm guessing that a sources URL or something is messed up. What's weird though is I haven't touched the flatpak sources list.

Try this (I've seen this mentioned many times in the past).

Code: Select all

flatpak --user repair; flatpak repair
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Nope. Didn't work. Same error.

If you are using a VPN, disable it and try again.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I'll add that there have been some reports lately that out L.A. repo is acting up, so you might try switching to our Salt Lake City repo.

Maybe a particular flatpak remote has removed it's packages (hence the second part of the message).

1. is it mx-packageinstaller tab or flatpak itself? What happens if you run flatpak commands in terminal things like "flatpak list" and "flatpak remote-ls" (see man or --help if you don't know what commands to run)

2. if it's mx-packageinstaller problem then please provide the log for it.

I found what the issue was.

Tried that. Nah, wasn't it.
j2mcgreg wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:29 am I'll add that there have been some reports lately that out L.A. repo is acting up, so you might try switching to our Salt Lake City repo.
Wasn't it either.

Sorry, should have been clear. The Flatpak tab won't display packages but the rest of the tabs work absolutely fine.

This suggestion tipped me off to what the issue really was. Running flatpak remote-ls gives me a "error: Unable to load summary from remote flathub: No GPG signatures found". And then I remembered that as a security precaution against ransomware, I locked down use of the gpg and openssl commands to superusers only. Running mx-packageinstaller in a root window fixes the issue as does setting the permissions for gpg back to what they were.

Thanks, guys! It's working good now. ^^
