xfce4-weather-plugin again

#1 Post by caspar »

Back in 2020, I had a problem with xfce4-weather-plugin viewtopic.php?p=595979#p595979 and the friendly community helped me solve it.
Now I have the same problem. The plugin does not show the weather, but gives the message "No data available".
I tried to change my location, but for any location I get "No data available".
Maybe it is because I am in Russia?
My QSI:

Can anyone from another region (not Russia) tell me, does the plugin xfce4-weather-plugin works?

Thank you for your reply.
So the problem is that our authorities are blocking the sources of information for this plugin.

It's broken in Sweden (No data). If you want an alternative you can use meteo-qt from Debian repo. It requires a key that can be obtained for free from https://openweathermap.org
You have to be patient. It's early morning in the US so wait for the MX developers.

Same problem here, London UK, apparently from yesterday: tried change place, to no avail, it shows grey sun symbol, and "No Data".

I'm in Sweden too, it always worked for me, very rarely (like once or twice a year) it'll go down for a few hours. I really don't know what might be the issue in your case :/

The current problem is related to an API change, but the XFCE maintainers seem to be on top of it.

https://mail.xfce.org/pipermail/xfce/20 ... 38447.html
Dear Xfce users and packagers,

If you’ve noticed that xfce4-weather-plugin has stopped working, please update to the latest version (0.11.3) as soon as possible. Due to a necessary change requested by the API provider (met.no), older versions are no longer able to retrieve weather data.

We also kindly ask package maintainers to update this package and backport the new version if possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

Best regards,
Andre Miranda
