Next the error message itself, which comes from clicking on the Updates icon, which pulls up Discover, which then does the usual fetching updates( I use this for informational purposes and go to MXPI to do the actual updating). In this case Chromium -common and firefox 136 are listed. Then the error message pops up with:

"W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com stable InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 0686B78420038257

I installed brave browser, didn't like it so uninstalled it, then turned on the system the next day and was greeted with that message. At a guess I would call it a glitch, but thought to check. Is there any way to clear this message?

Look in MX Tools/ Repo Manager under Individual Sources. then uncheck the one for Brave Browser.

You may also use Terminal to purge the Brave leftovers. { "sudo apt purge brave -a" } without the quotations.

That was an easy fix....and done. I will check to see all is well the next time updates are issued, and mark this as solved, as I imagine this will fix it.
