Have you installed HP Printing in the MXPI? Under popular apps.

Always install stuff using MXPI first, when that doesn't work out you can look at other sources.

It may need a plug in post install in order to work properly. Open a terminal and enter:

Code: Select all

hp-setup
which will download and install the plug in for you.

Note:
If this is the 2008 version of the Hp LaserJet 107a, it may not work despite your best efforts. hplip is written in python and when python was upgraded last year a lot of the older HP drivers were not upgraded to the new standard.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I just did a search for both the HP LaserJet 107a and the HP Laser 107a on the HP Developers Portal database of printers that are supported by hplip and I got a 'no results found' for both of them. This means that your printer is Windows only. See here:
https://developers.hp.com/group/2382/se ... ned=Search
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram

Found the solution. Someone got it working using Ubuntu. Circles but got it going, the main problem was with ippusbxd and the are using the HP Laser 10x series drivers. Here is the link for the fix.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1279136 ... untu-20-04

Here are the instructions

Here's how I got my HP Laser 107a to work on my freshly installed Ubuntu 20.04.

Step 1: Remove ippusbxd as mentioned in the previous answer.

sudo apt purge ippusbxd

Step 2: Download and install the HP Laser 10x series drivers.

wget https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software ... .15.tar.gz
tar -xvf uld-hp_V1.00.39.12_00.15.tar.gz
cd uld/
sudo ./install.sh

Step 3: Open Settings and remove any existing instance if exists. Select Additional Printer Settings and click Add on the next screen.
