better than a hold, you can mark them manually installed.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-mark manual exit-options grsync libxcb-cursor0 libxcb-ewmh2

lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Thank you, I will do that.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

I would like to point out that this thread is not about individual preferences for default apps, but rather about the generic release mxfb2025.

Let's keep it focused here and in the other threads dedicated to mxfb2025--it's hard enough already for me to keep track of things. TIA.

Back to original topic: I'm having doubts about keeping Nitrogen. I use the feh approach in my OpenBox spin without ever any failure, and it seems to me that our stated approach about software argues against including it for the future.

wouldn't removing nitrogen mean there is no gui for setting a wallpaper? Or am I missing something?

No, there's a script from BunsenLabs that we can use which provides a nice GUI. Well tested by @ceeslans and myself.

Does this also work in dual monitor mode, when each monitor should have its own image? With Nitrogen this works without any problems.

Never tried it, thanks. I'll post directions for you to test if you can.

Since I am halfway healthy again, have the PC and both monitors in the house again, I can safely accommodate a small test :-)

Feh 3.10.1 is supposed to have xinerama multi-monitor support enabled; regretfully I'm not able to check it out. \
Suggest you read the manpage for correct settings and subsequent testing.

Feh does not come with a GUI ... but yes: there is a script to display the background images in thumbnail-mode, where clicking the thumbnail will set it as wallpaper.
It's rather rudimentary (with various options are set+read in a *.conf file), suitable for single wallpaper setting. see below screenshot.
If interested, I can share the script and config file.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
