Renewing Ethernet Connection After Sleep

#1 Post by arjaybe »

This machine won't hibernate or do hybrid sleep, but it will sleep. Unfortunately I have to renew the network when it wakes up.

Code: Select all

$ sudo service network-manager restart
I'd rather have this happen automatically. What should I do?

The active interface is eth1 - the dongle. I bought the dongle because I didn't think there was a NIC built in. If I could get the Intel one going, I'd like that.

Code: Select all

Hibernation and sleep functions need swap space and you don't have any:

Code: Select all

Swap:
  Alert: No swap data was found.
These directions will show you how to create and activate a swap file;

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/ ... -debian-11
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I created a swap partition when I installed, but I just ran the partition manager and activated it. I didn't know I had to do that. Let's see how that changes things.

I got swap working, but it still won't stay hibernated or hybridized. Sleep is good enough.

I still need to figure out how to get the network to restart when it wakes up.
