Official Raspberry Pi Respin

Apparently the latest image of the RPi respin is:

But why is this dated 22.03.08. Post #1 is this topic points to this URL. It's been a year since I installed this on my Pi 4. So I'm not certain which image I downloaded.

Currently try to install this on a new Pi 5. It's stuck in a loop with this error:

I've read through most of the posts in this topic and can't find anything that relates to my issue.

Is this above URL the correct respin download for the Pi 5? Or is there an updated procedure?

I managed to get a fresh installation of the respin on my Pi 5!!!

Okay I've my Pi 5 8GB up and running for a while since my previous posts. I even have the Raspberry Pi 256GB SSD Kit installed. However I'm having issues the with the screen wallpaper going black and the mouse input on the desktop no longer responding.

I'm running the Pi mostly remote on my LAN with either NoMachine highly recommended by @CharlesV or RealVNC. Both exhibit this behavior. The problem occurs after being in a remote session and leaving it idle for a period of time. I never had this issue been running the respin on the Pi 4.

I'm not sure if this thread is the best place to post this issue? This theoretically could be an issue with regular x64 MX Linux.

There have been some issues with wallpapers, mouse cursors and icons / backgrounds in the 23.5 rollout, which I see you have on board. Any chance this issues started for you after the update ? )

Your machine is running pretty hot, which the Pi 5 is famous for. You probably want to look at dropping that, whether by taking the top off the case or improving whatever your current set up is. I'm using an aluminum case from Canakit that passively cools my Pi 5 so that with my work load (not extremely high) I usually plateau around 50 or so. There are a million case suggestions on the RPi Forum if you have the time and energy to look through.

I just installed the Raspberry Pi SSD Kit in the past couple days. It sits on top of the Pi 5 board. The fan is in the top of the case. So the fan is cooling the SSD board instead of the main Pi 5 board. I'm using the black plastic Pit 5 case from Canakit with an extension piece that raises the top cover to fit the SSD Kit. So yes I've seen the temperature raise since then. I really need a fan between the Pi 5 board and the SSD board, but there's hardly any room. I probably need to scrap the Canakit case altogether because I don't think they have a good fan option for the official RPi SSD Kit.

I noticed I had case sitting on top of a small towel and never thought twice about it. I can feel the heat from below right where the main board is. So I moved a hard surface with a little breathing room. The case has vent holes on the bottom. The temperature dropped down 62 to 65 C as it’s never a stable reading from the command line.

I know you prefer 50 C. How do you feel about these readings?
