Cut and paste commands from a github site can do that, and could explain both why they can't be uninstalled with apt, and why they are building when MX versions of the package tell them not to try to build when the kernel is a newer one--6.2+, I think.

Usually the solution for this is to run "sudo make uninstall" in the folder where you built and installed the source code, but I'm sure there's some way to manually edit some dkms file in order to stop it from attempting to build. Or remove a suspicious folder in /usr/src: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comm ... _module_i/

Can you try

Code: Select all

sudo dkms remove rtl8812au --all

It looks like you also need to specify the module version, which in this case I think is 0.1

Code: Select all

sudo dkms remove rtl8812au/0.1 --all

Deleting module rtl8812au-0.1 completely from the DKMS tree.
