Any tactful bullying for our MX - The need for our unity

#1 Post by Freja »

I was wondering whether to make a topic, but I was at my little limit at mind.

Tactful grumble many reviews(they using old logo on purpose), Unnatural ranking, DDos attacks, and can't say in here problems...
It seems MX have many enemies, It seems It's no longer just a delusion, that is very sadly. :waaaah:
I think MX is Great Linux OS, we well knowing/understood that.

But "Bad money drives out good money" in proverb.

We need for unity our mind. :campfire:

I hope this topic doesn't get too heated, I'm feeling sad(depression) everyday at saw any tactful bullying to MX,
I want to confirm I have allies at this topic. And that goes for team leader DO too I think. We are Lonely soldiers.
"I want to protect place of rest called MX LINUX" I want to protect this small kingdom... :bagoverhead:
In the world filled desire,
I seek only essence, serve for MX.
I just needing only ideal in the art at all.
I want to protect place of rest called MX LINUX. :coffee:

@Freja

I think all of the challenges you've mentioned have shown we already have great unity here in our 'kingdom', the Moderators, Developers and Users all working together to defend and protect MX while also listening to valid feedback about where improvements are actually needed and making MX even better. Beyond that we have no control anyway. There will always be critics and there will always be people who do not handle change patiently (believe me, I know) and the world is full of damage, jealousy and haters and we can't change that, we can only change our own reactions.

I think it's wonderful how much you care about MX and the community, I agree it is indeed a great kingdom and these recent events haven't threatened it, they have strengthened it!

Many times critics are users of other distros that are frustrated they cannot get MX features in their distro or the features of their distros is MX ("why is MX not a rolling release")

Agreed. I don't see any problems with MX Linux, now or in the future. The 23.5 release has come and gone and work will begin soon on alignment with Trixie if it hasn't already. The sun will rise again and birds will come back in the spring as they have countless times before. I see nothing wrong from where I stand, and I suspect that anything that is broken now is not so badly damaged it cannot be fixed.

People criticizing a Linux distribution is hardly something worthy of despair and, frankly, my opinion hasn't changed: if you don't like it, you don't have to use it.

Last month I stumbled upon a new term I'd never heard before: "help vampire". I found this rabbit hole fascinating in the same way you might read a book that feels as if it was written just for you. This is a topic in itself I'll save for another time, but one relevant quote (of many) that struck me in my soul like a tuning fork is this, emphasis added:
[T]here are now several varieties [of help vampire] that you should be wary of:

The Fanger The out-and-out help vampire, unabashed and unashamed of their needs. Their sense of entitlement will be telegraphed by needy and demanding thread titles, often featuring exhortations like "HELP" and "URGENT".... The Fanger will also occasionally table (sadly, almost inevitably empty) threats about leaving your community and going off to use some other software; as if the dependency relationship is somehow reversed and it is you, the community, that will suffer if they leave.
And while I post this not to reference any specific person, place, or incident that's occurred, the sentiment I took from reading about help vampires remains: the community is fine. It's gonna be fine tomorrow. New people will discover MX Linux, and that's great. Some people will find something else they prefer, and that's great, too. Distro hoppers will hop. Some long-time MX users will switch to something else that suits their needs better and I want that for them if it makes them happy.

My MX machines will still run, regardless of whether DistroWatch calls us #2, or #1, or #nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine. It simply doesn't matter to me, and it shouldn't matter to any of us. MX owes me nothing, just as it owes nothing to any drive-by detractors who want to leave a laughably poorly written anonymous review on a website I rarely think of and never visit.

If I don't like it, I don't have to use it.

I think everyone that has contributed here has been pretty spot on and I agree that the 'core users' here are banded well and working together to bring things positively forward.

I would like to add two things to the above ;
1) The measure of success is almost always driven by : # of users, # of haters, and # of copiers. The shear fact that there ARE a number of reviews of MX proves that people are looking and bring validity to MX.

2) You just cannot please everyone. And as you gain users and installs... the ratio goes up. There *will* always be people that just dont like MX for what ever reason, or try and then leave... and that is ok.

*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

Or.. in other words.. as soon as you stick your head out above the field, expect that some folks will try to mow it off. ;)

Yes, the answer is very simple ... if you don't like it, don't use it. That's it.

I am very grateful to the entire team and the entire MX-Linux community. I have been using Linux since 1999, Slackware 7. I have been through countless forums and, except for the now defunct Ubuntu-es, none of them have been as useful and friendly as MX-Linux. Thank you again. A quote comes to mind: Ladran Sancho, señal que cabalgamos.
