Audio Out-of-Sync Issues with SMPlayer/Firefox VIdeo/etc.

#1 Post by Arnox »

I think this is KDE acting up yet again, but the audio seems to always be 100 ms ahead of the video unless I adjust the audio delay specifically in SMPlayer or something.

I swear, it's death by a thousand tiny cuts with KDE 5.27.5. Assuming it is basically caused by KDE, that is. If not, my bad. Regardless though, I really, really hope the KDE release in Debian 13 will be a lot better.

Is this just the onboard audio without BT or a separate speaker plugged in? Another guy just stated that the MX 23.5 KDE is the best he's ever used. I still have my A5+ speakers and sub to connect. Just waiting on some banana plugs atm. Haven't heard them in over a year!
Sys76 LemurPro-mx-23.4, EliteMinis HM90-mx-21.3, Deskmini UM350-phoenixLite win10, Qnap 12tb nas, Protectli FW4C-opnsense(=゜ω゜)

zero privacy = zero security . All MX'd Up
UAP = up above people

This is through some standard headphones plugged into my front 3.5mm audio jack.

If you know how to work around/through its many little issues, it's great. Despite its rough edges, KDE does still deliver a fully featured desktop experience. XFCE does a very good job in the features department too, but all the same, it just doesn't have the same amount of options that KDE does.

UPDATE: Suspending compositing using Alt+Shift+F12 seems to fix it entirely. Which means that something in KWin is acting up. Perhaps a desktop effect or something... ?

Seriously, if anyone here has any knowledge of KDE 5.27.5's mysteries, please tell me now. Save me pain. Who knows. Maybe KWin and the proprietary Nvidia drivers don't play nicely together at all. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest...
