Hi all,
I have recently had a new router supplied By Virgin Media , a V5 hub replacing the older V3 version and now cannot print with my HP 5000 all in one printer. I get the above error message and the trouble shooter doesn't have a solution. I get the same error running MX21.3 and also Linux Mint 21.1 xfce and Kubuntu 22.04 .I can print from a live USB with no problems so do not suspect the printer is faulty. I would be grateful for any assistance you can offer (i am something of a newbie to Linux problems so the simpler the better if possible.
Assuming your printer is setup as wifi or network, try removing and recreating the printer.

Thanks for the advice ,sadly removing the printer doesn't resolve the issue I guess that the new router's SSID may have changed something and cups doesn't change with it.
Some devices dont like the change to SSID's, and will need to 'forget' the network and then reconnect.
Try pinging the printer ip from your computer, (not the live usb) and verify it is answering. And also delete the printer and see if you can auto connect to it... ( ie verify the computer can find it online.)

And, when you recreated the printer, you did that through the cups web interface ? http://localhost:631
That error message means that the printer is known, but not answering at the address assigned to it, so if you removed the printer and then added it, then cups * still * thinks it is at some other address or space.

It also appears that the error can occur if there is a bad / incorrect cert on the printer. Look in /etc/cups/ssl/ and see if there is a printer .crt file there. If so, then delete it and then recreate the printer.
As I recall, using the cups web interface and removing the printer there, will delete any invalid cert and then recreating there will create a new one. Not sure if doing that same thing in 'printers' will resolve it if the issue is the cert.

Excellent! If you would please mark as solved using the check mark on the top right of the post that resolved it.
And if you found something different resolved it, it might help others to post the fix.
Thank you!

Thank you, I had exact the same issue today, curiously enough on two of my MX machines. Removing the *.crt in /etc/cups/ssl (needs root), solved id.
