I suspect one of your non MX/debian repos has a non-bookworm version of chromium in it since those libraries really are not available in MX-23.4
Running

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy chromium
should let you know which repository that is.

Sorry, I was wrong. debian-security just goofed, releasing a debian bookworm chromium version that relies on libraries only available in trixie (or sid).

Re: What's wrong with the Chromium packages?

#4 Post by CatManDan »

ok, that explains it - I mean, Chromium is being pulled from a debian bookworm repo

Code: Select all

chromium:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 131.0.6778.108-1~deb12u1
  Version table:
     131.0.6778.108-1~deb12u1 500
        500 http://security.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security/main amd64 Packages
     131.0.6778.85-1~deb12u1 -1
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     130.0.6723.91-1~deb12u1 500
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm/main amd64 Packages
So, it's waiting on the Debian team fixing the situation. Thanks for the info.

The previous version is still in the main repository and you can install it with this command

Code: Select all

sudo apt install chromium=130.0.6723.91-1~deb12u1 chromium-common=130.0.6723.91-1~deb12u1
HP Pavillion TP01, AMD Ryzen 3 5300G (quad core), Crucial 500GB SSD, Toshiba 6TB 7200rpm
Dell Inspiron 15, AMD Ryzen 7 2700u (quad core). Sabrent 500GB nvme, Seagate 1TB

Good day

To fix this situation, should I inform the Debian developers or what is the best way to proceed?

The Debian developers already fixed the situation, as you can look up here: viewtopic.php?f=108&p=800763#p800763
