@Snake420 Glad that worked for you!

The printer trait sounds like it is a bad / poor driver. This link was the last one I used on a PIXMA MG6170, its an OLD driver.. .but it worked ( Last year ) ... and also the scan driver worked too!

I have also had very good luck with the cups printer driver found in the MX Package Installer. ( cups-backend-bjnp 2.0.3-4 )

I'm about ready to just chuck this 14 year old printer out the window and buy a new one, as it continually causes me issue every time I upgrade my system or distro.
Anyway, I know this kinda makes this a new topic, but any ideas?
Do you print a lot and do you need to print in color?
I do, and yes I have to have color...otherwise I would go laser printer.
Looking at possibly a newer Brother All-In-One since they have linux drivers available for the U.S. if I cannot get this thing going.

Thanks.

Here in Canada, both Staples and Best Buy have the Brother MFC-J1012DW Colour Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer on sale for $79.99. I think that you will find it similarly priced in the U.S.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I actually modded the MG6100 Series Linux Drivers back in 2023 from your help in that post viewtopic.php?f=104&t=76389&p=737354#p737354, for my old dell laptop with an MX 23 install.
It still works, but some reason I can't get things to fall in line for my new Lenovo.
Thanks.

Ah right! Some lib's have changed since then... possibly that is the issue here.

Maybe. The modded drivers installed perfectly fine without issue, and they show up everywhere, but for some reason it doesn't connect for more than a second or two, but not enough to print before it disconnects.

Yes, this sounds like either it really isnt connecting, or the wrong driver is attempting to be used.

Yes, it's strange because the printer will react and light up and the loading bar will go back and forth, but only for a second or two then stop. I'm baffled. Wouldn't even know what lib or whatever else it would need to work properly? 🤷‍♂️

Hi the printer list showing at post 7 does not appear to show gutenprint.

Have you installed gutenprint?

I have a different canon but the driver for mg6100 is there

by using the web browser method..as per post 6 ...with avahi working it should discover a networked printer
