Won't get out of Suspend mode

#1 Post by mattdebauge »

After my son gave me his PowerColor R 5700 XT graphic card, I swapped out my old Asus Strix R 370 graphic card. It runs fine on MX. The only thing I noticed what changed is that it will go on standby but seeing lighted fan still running. I tapped the keyboard or move the mouse, it won't wake up from Suspend mode. I had to hold power to shut off then power back on. Boots right up to desktop fine. With Asus R 370, it'll go standby mode and lighted fan shut off, If I move mouse or tap keyboard, it'll wake right up and back on desktop, never the issue. Now, with PC R 5700XT, thing changed. I did tweak Power Manager---> System tab and did try Hibernate mode but it won't wake up, then back to Suspend mode, same thing. I did run Xfce Screensaver and turn it off. Still the same issue. Since that I swapped out graphic card, it changed. Suggestion?

Thankyou!

In the meantime, since it was ok with the old card, it may also be kernel-related. You can install 6.10 Liquorix kernel (6.11 may still be problematic) via MX Package Installer, takes just 2 clicks and try. (Anyway 6.5 has reached EOL almost 1 year ago, on 28 Nov 2023).

Btw. : For hibernation (to "resume") you need either boot parameters or a file in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/

For some reason, It was able to wake up from suspended mode, it finally worked fine. I think I turned off screensaver that solve the issue. Kermit the Frog made the point that there is long time issue with screensaver. Thank to Kermit the frog
