appimag

#1 Post by mattdebauge »

I just bought Raspberry Pi 5 with new active cooler ( I have RPI 3 and 4). I installed MX Respin for RPI 5. Updated it and installed some apps. I downloaded Cura and Prusa Print (both are in appimag) and checked marked as executable (in Permission tab). Tried to click to run the app. it won't load. I was wondering if I am missing something . I have MX Linux desktop and it runs fine. I am trying to use RPI for slicing and few others (like watching Netflix while checking 3D printer next to me and Octoprint on browser.)

Thankyou!

Here's RPI info:

I would check to make sure you have downloaded appimages that work on the arm architecture.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Appears that Cura currently only supports amd64, according to their site:
Minimum system requirements

OpenGL 2 compatible graphics card, OpenGL 4.1 for 3D layer view
Display resolution 1024 x 768
Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64
550 MB available hard disk space
4GB RAM memory
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

Make alot sense. thankyou! I guess they stick with amd64. I used to have it on my RPI year ago and it was working (not appimage). Look like company is moving on to appimage to make their job eaiser. I can contact them to see if they can have appimage for ARM base.

Thanks!!
