I've dabbling in Linux for some time, distro hopping from Ubuntu, Mint, CrunchBang and others. Really liking the XFCE desktop. Running across MX Linux a few weeks ago, I tired it out on my shop laptop that runs my music and all the PDF manuals I use.
It has really grown on me, So much that my 2 other computers now run MX Linux too. Guess I'm here to stay.

Speed is good, unlike some other desktop environments I have tried. That is the main reason I use it. Getting it to be the way I want it was a bit of a learning curve for me though. If I had any programming experience whatsoever, I'd focus on making it friendlier to customise. MX Linux is still number 1 on distrowatch, and for once I agree with the masses.

Re: Found a new home with MX Linux
FWIW I find myself increasingly drifting towards MX, away from Gentoo. Odd, I guess, because these two Linux variants seems almost opposite in their target user bases.
Still, there are a number of things I get from Gentoo that I don't get from MX. For example, the touch panel on my Lenovo laptop doesn't work with MX, and it's not clear when it ever will. I guess MX favours stability over being completely up-to-date. I can't easily set up MX to use only ALSA audio, without Pipewire, etc., which is something I need for some applications. So, sadly, I am unable to adopt MX completely at present. Still, it comes closer to suiting my specific needs than anything except Gentoo.
BR, Lars.
