Hi.
A friend installed MX 23.4 Xfce x64, but can't place the Taskbar at the bottom. In the settings, he selects horizontal placement, but the panel is placed at the top. How can I solve the problem?
Thanks!

QSI please.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

@megaherz33 :
I assume when you mention 'Taskbar' you are referring to the 'Panel'. Your friend needs to unlock the panel (click in empty part of panel, click on 'Panel' and select 'Panel preferences' and uncheck 'lock panel'). This will place a double vertical line of dots at the extreme left of the panel - place the mouse pointer on this and hold the left mouse button down - the panel can now be dragged to the bottom of the screen. Re check 'lock panel' when happy with the placement.

The method is different for KDE. That is why QSI is needed.Kester wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2024 7:38 am @megaherz33 :

@richb : megaherz33 did state his friend had installed MX 23.4 Xfce x64 which is what I have and the method I mentioned works OK with that. However the Forum advises posters requiring help to include QSI with all requests for aid which j2mcgreg has rightly requested.
Cheers.

Re: How to change the position of the taskbar.
personally I would set the panel horizontal with the mx-tweak. it will reorder the panel plugins to make sense on the horizontal layout, as well as a few other niceties.

I can't provide it, he lives in another city.
Re: How to change the position of the taskbar.
If the panel location tool in MX Tweak doesn't work for him, there may be more going on with his machine than he is aware, Suggest to him that he join this forum so that we can help him out directly.
