[solved] flickering mouse pointer when mirroring laptop to external monitor

#1 Post by wellsey »

New install of mx23.4 xfce and I am trying to mirror my 14inch laptop (1366x768) to my 23 inch monitor (1910x1080). I rarely lift the lid on my laptop, I almost exclusively use the external monitor. I get a flickering mouse pointer on the monitor screen but not on the laptop screen. The problem occurs whether the monitor is connected via HDMI or VGA.
Here are images of the setup display config

You will notice I have scaled to make the entire screen small enough to fit in the laptop ( if I do the scaling on the monitor it does not look good ). If I dont do any scaling and leave each display at their max resolution then the image on my external monitor looks like this ...

Any help please, its the flickering that is the real problem , although even the mirroring procedure seems to be a faff to set right but I seem to be able to get it to look okay

I include output of xrandr

Though it's ok on one of the monitors, no harm trying this (cause it's already intel driver on yours):

Menu => "MX Tweak" : "Other" tab : "Use Intel instead of modesetting ... " ... Apply , reboot.

:number1:

Probably this did it within the created conf file ( /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf ) :

Code: Select all

Option "TearFree" "true"
