blueman-manager has no adapter (MX-21.3)

#1 Post by planetree »

I'm trying to connect a bluetooth speaker in MX-21. I am wondering whether my machine is just too old for bluetooth. Appreciate any advice.

I can't open Bluetooth Manager via the menu so I tried to open it in terminal and got:

Code: Select all

$ blueman-manager
blueman-manager version 2.1.4 starting
blueman-manager 17.08.59 ERROR Manager:118 on_dbus_name_appeared: Default adapter not found, trying first available.
blueman-manager 17.08.59 ERROR Manager:122 on_dbus_name_appeared: No adapter(s) found, exiting

There may not be a bluetooth device on that laptop cause other users' QSIs (with the same laptop) also show no such device and some of them use usb devices for bluetooth:

i.e.

Ditto, and specs on that laptop do NOT show bluetooth ... but there is mention of it in the Realtek driver (which doesnt appear to be in your machine? )

It's an old Dell OptiPlex 7020 desktop, so that's 2014. Should I presume that's just too early? I don't suppose it's possible to get an appropriate driver?

No matter, the speaker works on my other computer

Not that it's old .. Just they didn't put such a hardware ... This laptop and my previous HP are/were much more older (one from 2005 and the other from 2011) both have/had Bluetooth.

this isn't related to your bluetooth issue, but if that used percentage (92.2) gets to 95% or over you may have trouble logging in.

you're welcome. my understanding is that the ext4 filesystem reserves 5% for root just in case the disk fills and the system needs to keep functioning in that capacity (logging and whatnot). so beyond that threshold a regular user would have trouble logging in. or something like that:

Code: Select all

sudo tune2fs -l /dev/sdb1 | grep -iE 'reserved blocks|block count'
Block count: 39321344
Reserved block count: 1966067
Reserved blocks uid: 0 (user root)
Reserved blocks gid: 0 (group root)
