mx23 with nvidia rtx4060

#1 Post by fkam18 »

Hi,
I am running mx-23 ram based boot with persistence, and tried to install Nvidia driver for rtx-4060 which is the main display card for my desktop.
After mxtool->nvidia driver install, it selected the latest nvidia something like 535.... to do a lot of downloads and make, and there're some overlay errors in init img gen, and then I rebooted but same as before, the display can only select 1024x... one resolution guess that's the nouvedo default basic.

Wonder if anyone can share some exp how to get this work? Could it be that I'm running an overlay based ram persistence mx23 that the nvidia driver install failed, or that mx23 cannot support rtx4060 yet?

Many thks
MK

Interesting, I just see Settings-> nvidia setting is available now. But is it that I'm not letting the installer install the right kernel image for this driver due to my ram persistence usb setup?

Hi
I made it work by doing a local disk install, enable test repo and backport, then MXTools-> Install Nvidia Driver, then still some error, but reboot a few times seems working now.

However, after that, apt upgrade results in: (actually redone this Install Nvidia Driver without changing repo's)

Can you please post code output using code tags? You can use this button in the full editor </> or write code like so:

Makes for easier reading. Thanks :)

Finally, tried to clean up and redo the whole thing now it seems alright with the apt upgrade after Install nvidia driver. No idea what went wrong.

Re: mx23 with nvidia rtx4060  [Solved]

Here's a summary of the experiments:
1. install mx23 on local disk (not using usb image boot with overlay)
2. apt clean/upgrade (without modifying repos, ahs should be enabled in default)
3. mxtool-> install nvidia driver
4. reboot a few times should work
5. power->sleep->wakup will get blank screen and hang

These are on mx23.4
