AVL-MXe 23 Conky fun

#1 Post by AVLinux »

Hi,

OK, I forgot how fun messing with a Conky can be, this isn't buffed to perfection yet but I though I'd have a play with a background image... If anyone is interested I'll share the assets once I get it completed..

that image reminds me of the cardboard CRT monitors they used in the mall furniture stores to "mock up" a home office... lol... sorry dumb observation, that just took me back... haha...

I would like it. Is the image of the television screen a single image in tiled format?
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

@siamhie

Sorry, this got away on me until now, try this, you may have to modify the network interfaces for your hardware since Conky doesn't use "eth0" "wlan0" any more..

Zip was too big to attach here so here's a link:
https://bandshed.net/files/Terminus-rev1.zip

Let me know if it works...

Hello AVLinux

#NETWORK SECTION
${voffset 0}${goto 90}${color2}$gw_iface: ${font}${color}${goto 380}${color2}Up: ${color}${upspeedf $gw_iface}Kb | ${color2}Dn: ${color}${downspeedf $gw_iface}Kb

Temp: this system happens to be hwmon 1 temp 1.

Model: changed 370 to 380. (your Model must be a longer name? you need 370?)

Init: this system has no init-detect.

Desktop: trialing on fluxbox, so CURRENT_DESKTOP is blank in fluxbox. i will try it in enlightenment.

Background image changed the path to /.conky/Terminus/monitor.png.

Thanks for the notes! Will fix things and re-upload tonight after work with init-detect script (I forgot it wasn't included).

Yes, my CPU model needs 'goto 370' to line up correctly, as you see the name length can make a difference..

Hello AVLinux
Our grandMother was born in Kitchener.

Terminus conky now running in AVLinuxMXedition.
needed install conky. had not missed conky. now installed.
Temp: this time a temp shows with hwmon 0 temp 3. what temp? it is? i will need to find out.
Desktop: is populated with, Enlightenment.
Init: is populated with, systemd. It found /usr/local/bin/init-detect.

The posted image shows two font colors. The Terminus config color2 is the same as color. The conky text is all one color.

Kitchener! That's only 35 minutes away from here, it's a small world isn't it?!

Yes, you're right, to look more 'real' I changed the text to one color to look like an old CRT monitor would actually display. AVL-MXe 23.X had no Conky stuff installed, this is AVL 'future stuff' haha! I think MX Conky pulls in a lot of extra stuff so I'm just working on a few Conkys and a little Editor app..

Thanks i_ri

I have uploaded 'Terminus-rev1' and changed the link above..

-fixed BG image path...that was stupid of me!
-fixed Network to new code
-added init-detect script to Terminus folder

I probably still made some mistakes... :bagoverhead: Let me know...
