Fatal Error trying to boot snapshot

#1 Post by LysarZ »

I'm trying to make a bootable snapshot of my system before upgrading to version 23.3. I stuck with 19.4 for so long because more recent versions of the nvidia kernel drivers do not support my gpu. I'm hoping that nouveau will work with 2 monitors.

I've tried 2 different configurations of the snapshot on 2 different flash drives. When trying to boot, I always get the following message: "Fatal Error
Neither aufs nor overlayfs is available". I can then only reboot or power off. I checked synaptic and have no packages installed for either of those, but neither mx-snapshot nor mx-live-usb-maker lists them as dependencies. How can I make this boot successfully?

Looks good, so not compressed, not sure why it's not loaded into the live-initrd.
Maybe this, try to boot into another Debian or MX provided kernel (if you have one installed)
But nvidia may have not build properly for the other kernels,
which meana you could not just update (=change) the live kernel as nvidia would not
work with xorg=nvidia live boot parameter.
What I would now try purge Nvidia, so you boot with nouveau,
and try a MX or Debian kernel and from that booted kernel create a snapshot.
