Is there a Respin for in-memory MX Linux/antiX
Is there is a Respin available for MX Linux which runs entirely off RAM? Like SystemRescueCD distribution? Such that once booted the USB drive can be removed from the system and the system runs normally.

All antiX/MX isos can run like that if you simply use the toram option in F4

If booting uefi the toram option is in the advanced boot options menus.

The way I do normally boot MX/antiX LiveISOs or LiveUSB's would be with "toram", at least on PC's which do have enough ram.LinuxSpring1 wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2024 6:00 am Is there is a Respin available for MX Linux which runs entirely off RAM? Bonus+: Snapshotting with an extra /tmpdir in RAM and zstd:9 compression takes about 1min ++

I checked in the GRUB Advanced options for MX Linux 23.3. It is not there. By any chance were you referring to AntiX's boot options?dolphin_oracle wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2024 6:37 am If booting uefi the toram option is in the advanced boot options menus.

There may be confusion on Live vs installed boot options in this thread.

In case you refer to the Live GRUB menu:LinuxSpring1 wrote: Mon Sep 02, 2024 4:01 amI checked in the GRUB Advanced options for MX Linux 23.3. It is not there. the toram boot option is found under the "Boot options" submenu located within "Advanced options" menu :
Main menu: Avanced options menu: Boot options menu: Select one boot option at a time with [Enter]
and the “Boot options” menu is displayed again with the selected options: Further boot options can be added by selecting boot options menu again.
To de-/unselect an option, you select the marked option again: When done go back to main menu with the last entry at the bottom
When booting within MBR/BIOS mode the LiveBoot menu offers a GFX/ISOlinux boot menu,
where toram is found under F4-options: HTH

Re: Is there a Respin for in-memory MX Linux/antiX
Thanks @fehlix . That helped to clear up a lot of items. @8bit was right there was confusion going on between live version of MX Linux and the non-live version of MX Linux. Your screenshots showed that this is available in the Live version of MX Linux.
Is there a way to get this into the non-live version of MX Linux which typically most of us have? i.e. we have systems which are installed on the drive/disk of our computer and not on a USB stick.
